Someone friend this journal today which reminded me of the great people I met on this one that I've disappeared for. If you guys still watch this, you should check out my personal LJ to keep up with my craziness. LOL. 

Things have been going well for me, I haven't had the brilliant Saiyuki revelations but that's also because my class ended. I'm interning over the summer and I will be going to Washington DC this fall.

So all in all with my current internship and planning for the trip I've been pretty busy. For the moment I've given up Rping mostly because I don't have the time. It makes me sad but it's true. I am still writing and raising hell in my own little ways.

I just wanted to poke the friends of this journal because I DO like you peoples, to friend my other journal. I will friend you too. ^_^ So if you see an add from lunastarwind it's just me.

Let me start off with MIDTERMS SUCK ASS! *takes deep breath and smirks* Now that that's out of the way.... I've been lacking on checking the RP mostly because I've been busting my ass working on my midterms and now I'm in the preproduction stages of making an iMovie for one of my classes. I feel bad about this but I chose the WRONG time to join a LJ rp for the first time. I can barely keep up with my homework let along try to keep with cupnjava and car_jack. *sighs*

So needless to say for the next month I'm gonna be busting my ass using all the free time I can find to film and edit my iMovie because I've only GOT next month to film it all and edit. *hangs head in shame* Forgive me folks.

The funny thing is that I was thinking about this at all. Yesterday morning I finished reading Siddhartha and the entire last few chapters got me thinking. 

Now if I remember correctly this isn't present in the manga as promonately but in the anime there's an entire episode where the audience is shown the difference between a traditional monk and Sanzo. Mostly it's just that the monks are very strict on the rules of "no liqour, no gamling, no women" so on and so forth. Then there's Sanzo, who smokes, drinks, whacks people with a fan, shots a gun and as fanfiction writers love to make him a slut. ^_^ 

There are some who say that makes him a bad Sanzo monk, I disagree. My friend, desdemona_marx,and I were talking yesterday and we both agree that he's a better monk. This goes back to Siddhartha because in the novel Siddhartha was a traveling monk when he was young but he'd never "enjoyed" life (ie never gambled, drank or had sex). It wasn't until after he did all those things in the novel that he could really appreciate life and truly be wise. 

This is why I think Sanzo is a better priest because he knows what life is like and as desdemona put it "holds no illusions." He knows how life works and he's not about to act like shit doesn't happen or that we all have to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and get the fuck over it. Gotta love that about our favorite bitchy monk, he tells it like it is even if you can't stomach it.

When I posted on Thursday I got cut short, mostly because I was posting at work. So I missed some key things I wanted to point out. It amuses me to now end the differences in the status of Sanzo, Goyjo and Hakkai when they were reincarnated. 

Hakkai was made a human, which isn't too bad, but he was born a Catholic. My teacher was telling me that when he once had a Buddhist in his class who told him (after he asked) that in his past life he must have been a very bad person to be reborn as a Catholic. It makes me wonder what Tenpou did that was so horrible, maybe it had to do with his constant plotting against Nataku's father? Or the events that are still unknown to me that cause Goku to be imprisoned?

Then there's Kenren who was reborn as a half-demon. Now this I can't know for sure but my best educated guess is that being reborn as a demon is worse then being born a non-Buddhist human. Then add in the fact that Goyjo is half human and it jus adds a level. 

Again it all comes down to... what the fuck happened in Heaven that got the three of them cast out and Goku imprisoned? I suppose we can only know after Gaiden is translated or rather if I ever feel like searching out a translation.

Ok for those of you who don't know me from my other LJ ( <lj user="lunastarwind"> ) I'm in college. Currently I'm taking an Arts and Humanities class on South Asia and we're learning about Buddhism. While talking about the Tibetian Wheel of Life I realized something amusing about Saiyuki.

In the process of reincarnation Heaven isn't considered the end of the cycle but just another level. (I didn't know this before yesterday.) So I had the funny thought that Sanzo, Hakkai and Goyjo must have done some AWESUMELY good stuff in their last lives before they were Konzen, Kenren and Tempou to be reincarnated in Heaven. 

But on the other hand it also says how bad what they did to get "kicked out" of Heaven because two of them were reincarnated as demons (half-demon and human turned demon to be technical). But for Sanzo it must not have been as bad because he only went from being the nephew of Kanzeon Bosatsu to a Sanzo preist. 

Karma is a funny thing and I just went WOW when I realized that yesterday. Ok I just wanted to share that.
